Annaprasna - First Solid feeding cermony

According to hindu culture, usually this first solid feeding cermony is celebrated when the baby is 6months 6 days old.

For me, ammamma(grandmom - mom's mom), aabu thatha (granddad - mom's dad) left to India. It is so embrassing to celebrate without family. So to fulfill this moments prasad thatha (granddad - dad's dad) came to spend some good time with me, mom and dad. As nayanamma (grandmom- dad's mom) is not there thatha has to come alone. As we stay from India, friends are our family so mom and dad thought of celebrating this cermony with friends.But as it should be celebrated on 6th day of 6th month, for me it was on March12th 2009 that was on a thursday, so it was not possible to celebrate with friends. At last me, mom,dad, thatha went and celebrated in the temple , so i started eating solids with gods prasadam (the food which we offer to god). The prasadam was yummy, so dad fed me 1st with his gold ring (that is how it is celebrated) later mom and thatha also fed me.

After finishing this part of the cermony there comes a funny part which is celebrated mostly by Andhra people. The funny part is they arrange pen, book, money, toys, gold, food infront of the baby , then baby to crawl to reach the things which he likes to grab / touch. Depending on the thing baby grabs / touches first they decides the profession of the baby in future..
Like, if baby touches pen - thinks that baby will become a good writer.
If baby touches book - thinks that baby will be good at his studies and settles in good profession.
If baby touches money - thinks that baby will be earning more money and becomes rich.
If baby touches toys - thinks that baby will become entertainer.
If baby touches gold - thinks that baby will become a business man/ woman and buys lots of gold.
If baby touches food - thinks that baby will be having food without any fussy.. dont know what is the profession in this scenario????.

Coming to my celebration -  i wasn't crawling by that time, so mom has arranged everything which i can just reach my hand by sleeping on my tummy. I found gold interesting so i grabbed gold items first, as mom is more careful she took away gold from my hand, then its second chance for me, mom was asking me to hold a book, but i said nah.. i grabbed money. Because my policy is studying well is nothing but to earn to good money, so directly i grabbed the final destination. :)

So will wait and see what destiny decides ???
